Summer Travel Costs
It can be nice to get away for awhile during the summer, but vacations don’t come for free. What kind of costs can you expect this year?
FOX News Radio’s Jared Halpern reports:
Gas prices are about the same at $3.65 a gallon on average AAA says. If you’re checking into a hotel room, expect that bill to top last year’s total. The average room rate is $112 dollars before taxes, that’s up about 4% from last year.
The airline industry’s lobby group says domestic round-trip flights average $421, that’s down six bucks from last summer.
Amtrak also expects to carry more than the 8.3 million passengers it saw last summer when the average one-way ticket was $66. The taxpayer-backed railroad not disclosing fares for this season.
