Housecall for Health: Flu Vaccine May Protect The Heart

A new study suggests the flu vaccine may do more than lower risk of influenza, it may prevent heart disease.

FOX News Radio’s Joy Piazza reports in today’s “Housecall for Health”:

New research suggests the flu vaccine may also be a heart vaccine. Scientists at the University of Toronto find those who receive the flu shot have half the risk of having a heart attack or stroke. And are 40% less likely to die from one than those who go unvaccinated. The shot may also lower your risk of heart disease. The reason for the link isn’t clear, but scientists believe the vaccine may break up plaque in the arteries.
