Housecall For Health: Wisdom Teeth

Say goodbye to ‘chipmunk cheeks’. Some dentists are starting to believe that yanking wisdom teeth may not be as crucial as once believed, unless a problem is imminent.

FOX’s Colleen Cappon reports in today’s edition of “Housecall For Health”:

Do wisdom teeth really need to be removed? Now dentists say what used to be viewed as a rite of passage, may be excessive and unnecessary. The American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons recommends offering young adults options like monitoring third molars, instead of surgery. Professionals say the rules have changed in the past five years, and wisdom teeth only need to come out if there is reasonable potential they’ll cause problems.
