Housecall for Health: Taste Wards Off Infection?

According to a new study, there may be a link between your sense of taste and your chances of having a strong immune system.

FOX’s Colleen Cappon reports in today’s “Housecall for Health”:

Those sensitive to bitter tastes may have a heightened immunity to infection.  Researchers at the University of Pennsylvania find some people have bitter taste receptors not only on the back of the tongue, but also in nasal and sinus linings.

These additional receptors work as early detection for the immune system, and help the body fight bacterial respiratory infection.  Experts say the results may lead to new ways to treat chronic sinus conditions.
