Not every driver loves the challenge of restrictor plate and tandem racing required at Talladega, but Matt Kenseth says bring it on:
Kenseth: “For the first time in my career, I probably really look forward to going to Talladega. Our plate stuff has been extremely strong this year. I think we’ve led a lot of laps all three plate races.”
For Jimmie Johnson, the key to surviving Talladega is to:
Johnson: “Hope that you don’t hit anything too hard and you can get to pit lane and get it fixed.”
And for Brad Keselowski:
Keselowski: “It’s its own animal, and it’s been a very good track for us. But there is no guarantee of success at Talladega no matter who you are.”
Keselowski plans to scale back on his Nationwide series schedule the rest of this season to focus on winning the Sprint Cup. Ryan Blaney will now take Brad’s place at the Kansas Nationwide race later this month. And Quicken Loans announces they will double its commitment to Stewart-Haas Racing and Ryan Newman’s car, backing him for 18 races next season as his primary sponsor.
