Meningitis Outbreak Spreads to 5 States

A deadly meningitis outbreak that started in Tennessee has now spread to at least five states.

FOX News Radio’s Jeff Monosso reports:

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports 26 cases of a rare form of fungal meningitis in Tennessee, Virginia, Maryland, Florida and North Carolina.

(Allen) “We are not able to say with absolute certainty what the cause, or the source, of the outbreak is.”

…The CDC’s Curtis Allen.  But health experts do say the meningitis outbreak may center around tainted steroid injections given to patients.  People are being notified to look out for symptoms, which include nausea, vomiting and sensitivity to light.  So far, four people have died.
