Tropical Storm Isaac Threatens RNC

For now, ‘Isaac’ is a tropical storm, but it could soon be a hurricane. As it moves towards Haiti, the storm is attracting some more-than-usual attention in the United States as it threatens the site of the Republican National Convention.

FOX News Radio’s Rich Johnson reports:

Florida is no stranger to hurricanes, but the timing of Isaac’s possible arrival is something very different, according to Florida Governor Rick Scott.

(Gov. Scott) “Isaac’s a unique storm in this regard: It has the potential to threaten a major convention designed a ‘special national security event’.”

Scott tells reporters in Tallahassee. Ultimately it’s up to Republican party officials whether or not to cancel or delay the convention.

But that decision’s a few days away. As Isaac’s track could take it right up Tampa Bay, or well west into the central Gulf of Mexico.
