Americans Wasting Billions in Food Every Year

In the U.S., waste is coming from the farm to the fork as billions of dollars of food are thrown away every year.

FOX News Radio’s Bill Vitka reports:

From the farm to the dinner table, Americans throw away food, up to 40% of our food, just about every other bite.

Landfills are full of squandered bounty: at least $165 billion, every year. The average family of four wasted more than $2,200 in food each year, according to the Natural Resources Defense Council.

Most of the waste takes place in stores and homes. The cheap cost of food in the US makes it easy.

But it happens on the farm as well, where growers sometimes dont harvest food because of poor market price that makes it hard to recoup investment.
