A “procedure” used by psychiatrists – and even magicians – could be used to ease chronic pain.

New research suggests that hypnosis may be a real solution for patient pain and anxiety.  Scientific evidence is mounting that hypnosis can be effective in a variety of medical situations, including easing migraine headaches, lowering blood pressure, controlling asthma attacks and hot flashes and even dulling side effects of chemotherapy.

Top behavioral medicine experts say, although efficient, hypnosis carries a stigma that can hinder its progress in medicine.
