Housecall for Health: Do Dental X-Rays Cause Brain Tumors?
A routine part of your dental exam could be a factor in the development of a brain tumor.
FOX’s Colleen Cappon explains in today’s “Housecall for Health”:
A new study suggests that dental X-rays increase the risk of brain tumors. Researchers at Yale School of Medicine surveyed a group diagnosed with meningioma – the most common form of brain tumor – and a group without any brain cancer. The results show the group with brain tumors were more than twice as likely to report ever having dental X-rays.
Experts note that it’s likely the association is from past X-rays that had much higher levels of radiation than those used today.
