A Connecticut teacher’s cleaning up her act after a paper towel incident got her into some trouble with parents.

FOX News Radio’s Sal Giangrasso reports:

Carol Van Erven’s been teaching in Groton for more than 20 years, but some parents now want to get her fired and are considering legal action because earlier this year, she had students hold a paper towel in their mouths to try to keep them quiet. She says the exercise was to hold the paper towels between their lips but…

(Frank) “One child was gagging and had to move the paper towel over into his cheek.”

    Parent, Debra Frank.

School officials call it an error in judgment and the superintendent says the paper towels were not in the children’s mouths. The teacher apologized, calling it mistake but that parent says…

(Frank) “I believe in second chances, I don’t think this is a situation warrants it.”

    Sal Giangrasso, FOX News Radio.

Editor’s Note: After being placed on paid administrative leave, Van Erven is expected to return to the classroom sometime after the Easter break.
