FDA Warns Against Cholesterol Lowering Drugs

    The FDA ordering new warning labels for some of the most widely used prescription drugs in the country: statins.

    Statin drugs used by millions of Americans to lower their cholesterol now required to carry new safety warning labels.

    The FDA telling the makers of Lipitor, Crestor, Zocor and Vytorin, among other statins to inform patients about additional rare side effects.

    The possibility of liver damage already on the label. Now add possible memory loss, cognitive damage and an increase in blood sugar that could lead to Type 2 diabetes to that list.

    The FDA noting memory problems and confusion reverse when patients reporting the side effect stop taking the drug.
