9/11 Memorial Hits Million Visitor Milestone
For 10 years, very few people were able to walk through the area where the World Trade Center once stood. But in just over three months, the site has reached a visitation milestone.
FOX News Radio’s Chris Hoenig reports from New York City:
One million people have visited the National 9/11 Memorial at Ground Zero since it opened 16 weeks ago.
(Daniels) “The idea that one million people have come here and set foot on this ground makes all the work that’s gone into building this very special place worth it.”
Memorial President Joe Daniels announced the milestone. The Memorial Plaza opened to the public on September 12th, after welcoming families of 9/11 victims for the 10th anniversary of the attacks.
The names of those killed are etched in bronze, surrounding two giant waterfalls in the footprints of the Twin Towers. A museum is set to open on the site in September.
