A Vaccine Against Zika May Be Just Around the Corner

There could soon be a new weapon in the fight against the Zika virus.

    FOX’s Dave Anthony reports:

A Zika virus vaccineis being developed, and the FDAhas given the okay for Inovio Pharmaceuticals to start testing it on people.

That company and it’s partner Gene One Life Science created the vaccineto resemble Zikain the body and testing already done in animalsfound it developed antibodies and other cellsthat attack the viruswhich is most dangerous to pregnant womenblamed for birth defects.

Mostly in Brazil and other countriesbut there are three cases of babies affected in the U.S.The hope is to test the Zika vaccinein the coming weekson 40 people to determine the safest dose.
