City Manager Resigns after Asking Staff to Map Muslims in the Area
A city in Washington state is trying to restore its image, after the city manager resigned because he asked staff to map out where Muslims live.
FOX’s Gary Baumgarten reports:
The city of SeaTac, Washington, doing damage control after getting bad publicity after its then-city manager tried to map where Muslims live in the Seattle suburb:
(Roschler) “It’s unfortunate that this is casting SeaTac in a bad light.”
That’s city councilman Rick Roschler… A report into the matter concludes that former city manager James Payne wanted the information, which was never collected, in case he had to go to neighborhoods to make peace between Sunni and Shiite Muslims.
The report also finds that Payne was concerned about Muslims committing acts of terrorism. SeaTac has a large community of East African immigrants, many of them are Muslim.
