Obama to Congress: Get Me a Better Zika Funding Bill

Although a first bill to help fund the fight against the Zika virus has now passed in each house, President Obama is not satisfied. He is now pressuring Congress to do more in the fight against the Zika virus.

FOX’s Jared Halpern has more from the White House:

President Obama warns time is running out before mosquito season ramps up for much of the U.S. and with it, new fears over the spreading Zika virus, linked to serious birth defects:

(President Obama) “Bottom line is Congress needs to get me a bill. It needs to get me a bill that has sufficient funds to do the job.”

Both the House and Senate have passed competing Zika funding legislation. The House plan spends
just $600 million through September, using money from Ebola and other HHS funds, a strategy the President calls robbing Peter to pay Paul.

The Senate’s $1.1 billion measure is closer to the President’s near $2 billion request.
