Bipartisan Bill Passed by Senate Allows 9/11 Victims’ Families to Sue Saudi Arabia
With the support of both parties, the Senate unanimously approves legislation allowing 9/11 families to sue Saudi Arabia. It’s a hot topic; the White House has already threatened to veto the bill. And the Saudi government has been loud in their opposition.

Senate sponsors say the measure allowing families of the September 11 attack victims to sue foreign governments is not aimed at Saudi Arabia, but was passed amid new questions about the Kingdom’s role financing the attacks:
(Schumer) “If the Saudis did not participate in this terrorism, they have nothing to fear about going to court.”
New York Democrat Chuck Schumer and Texas Republican John Cornyn also dismiss threats of economic retaliation:
(Cornyn) “They’re not gonna suffer huge financial loss in order to try to make a point.”
The bill must still clear a House vote.
