Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman to be Extradited and Face Drug Trafficking Charges in the United States

A Mexican drug lord will face charges in the U.S.

FOX’s Tonya J. Powers has the story:

A Mexican judge has ruled that Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman can be extradited to face drug trafficking charges in the United States.

The announcement comes just days after he was moved from a maximum-security facility near Mexico City to a prison across the border from El Paso, a region that’s one of his cartel’s strongholds.

Guzman has escaped from prison twice before, and is being held in a maximum-security portion of the prison with video monitoring in his cell.

A source at the foreign ministry says there likely won’t be movement on the extradition for weeks.
