Family of Beheaded Journalist Steven Sotloff is Suing Syria in Federal Court

The family of an American who was beheaded by ISIS files a lawsuit against Syria.

FOX’s Jon Decker has more from the White House:

The family of slain journalist Steven Sotloff is suing Syria in federal court, claiming the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad provided support to ISIS militants who carried out the gruesome beheading.

The lawsuit seeks $90 million in compensatory damages, plus up to three times that in punitive damages from Syria for Sotloff’s 2014 killing.

However, it’s unlikely Sotloff’s South Florida-based family will be able to collect money from Syria even if they win the case.
