Senate Passes Reauthorization Bill that Increases Security in Airports

The Senate has passed a reauthorization bill for the FAA that beefs up airport security and promotes widespread use of commercial drones.

FOX’s Jon Decker reports from the White House:

The bill, which passed 95-3, tightens up the vetting process for airport employees and beefs up public safety in areas before security screenings. That’s in response to recent terrorist attacks, including last month’s bombing of Brussel’s main international airport.

The bill also increases consumer protections for passengers and paves the way for tougher mental-health screening of commercial pilots.

The bill must now be reconciled with a House version, which wants to privatize the FAA’s air-traffic control system and some 38,000 employees.
