Bill That Would Make the Bible Tennessee’s Official Book Heads to Governor

A move to declare the bible as the official state book in Tennessee has passed the state’s legislature. Now all eyes are on the governor to see if he’d sign the bill.

FOX’s Eben Brown reports:

The legislative move in Tennessee to have the Bible be named the state book had a lot of bi-partisan support. It also had bi-partisan opposition.

Republican state senator Ferrell Haile from Gallatin says he loves the Bible, but couldn’t vote for the law:

(Haile) ”I am a believer.”

That it had nothing to do with separating church from state. But is a matter of respect:

(Haile) “And to me, it’s degrading the word of God to put it on the same plane that we’re putting a state animal, a state tree, state flower.”

No word on if the governor in Tennessee will enact it.
