Commercial Drones Could Soon Fly Over Skies Near You

Commercial drones could soon be flying in the skies over you.

FOX’s Rachel Sutherland reports from Washington:

A government-sponsored committee is recommending that the Federal Aviation Administration allow commercial drone flights over populated areas. Such a move would permit companies like Zipline International to parachute more packages to locations within the United States.

Right now, the San Francisco-based company has been focusing on medical supply deliveries overseas. This is CEO Keller Rinaudo:

(Rinaudo) ”Zipline is designed to allow public health care systems to be able to always make a delivery when someone is in trouble.”

The FAA currently prohibits most commercial drone flights over populated areas, especially crowds, to the frustration of a host of industries that want to take advantage of the technology.
