Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel Selects Eddie Johnson for Police Superintendent
Chicago’s mayor has found a replacement for the police superintendent he ousted months ago.
FOX’s Jeff Monosso reports from Chicago:
Chicago’s new top cop wasn’t even running for the job or among the Chicago Police Board’s recommendations.
But the hand pick of embattled Mayor Rahm Emanuel, who rejected the board’s three finalists. Instead choosing the CPD’s current chief of patrol, Eddie Johnson, an African American veteran of the force:
(Livingston) “He’s a great police officer, he’s a man of integrity.”
That from Gregory Livingston, who’s led protests here in recent months over city and police policies for which the former police superintendent was fired.
It’s presumed that Johnson will apply for the position to become a finalist in a second round of picks.
