California Proposing Legislation That Gives Parents Paid Time Off for Their Child’s School Activity
A move in California to grant parents time off to attend their children’s school activities.
FOX’s Gary Baumgarten reports:
We know all about maternity leave and more recently paternity leave, but now in California, State Assemblyman Mike Gatto is proposing legislation that would give moms and dads paid time off from work to attend their child’s school activities:
(Gatto) “It’s so important to be involved in your child’s education. Studies show that this really greatly improves your child’s educational chances in life. It’s really critical that we give parents this opportunity to do it, without forcing them to make the tough decision between paying the bills and being involved.”
Under the bill, parents of children in kindergarten through 8th grade would receive three extra paid time off days per year.
