More People Are Renting Around the United States
Renting’s on the rise in the suburbs.
FOX’s Carmen Roberts reports:
You normally see most people renting in big U.S. cities, but a study shows about 29% of folks in the suburbs outside the nation’s 11 most populous cities were renters in 2014. That’s a 23% increase in eight years.
One reason for the increase may be that homeowner’s finances took a big hit during the 2008 mortgage meltdown.
Another reason, according to the study by New York University and Capital One bank, it costs more to rent in most of the big metro areas, forcing people to rent elsewhere.
