LAPD Investigating Knife Found Before Demolition of O.J. Simpson’s House
Los Angeles police are examining a knife apparently found at the former home of O.J. Simpson. The former NFL star acquitted of murder charges in the 1994 stabbings of his ex-wife and her friend.
FOX’s Jessica Rosenthal has details:
Captain Andrew Neiman says a former LAPD officer, who retired in the late 90’s turned the knife over to the LAPD.
He apparently got it while working off duty on a movie set:
“Within the last month LAPD became aware of an item allegedly recovered by a citizen at the Rockingham property, possibly during the demolition of the site.”
Which was in 1998. It’s not clear what took so long, Neiman says he is surprised. The knife is undergoing testing, specifically for DNA, but even if this turns out to be the weapon that killed Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman, O.J. Simpson would likely not face charges as he was already acquitted and the legal rules of double jeopardy would apply.
