February Job Numbers Better Than Expected
The February jobs numbers are better than expected.
FOX’s Jon Decker reports:
Non-farm payrolls grew by 242,000 in February, much better than expected. Meanwhile, the unemployment rate held steady at 4.9%, an eight-year low.
Strong employment gains were recorded in healthcare, retail, and restaurants. But manufacturing jobs fell by 16,000, suggesting that the sector’s slowdown is not over.
The President’s top economic adviser in a statement lauded this latest jobs report, but said that more work remains to drive faster wage growth, including investing in infrastructure, and raising the minimum wage.
