Apple Calls on Congress to Form a Commission to Discuss Implications for Privacy and National Security

Apple has a different idea about who should oversee the fight over unlocking a terrorist’s iPhone.

FOX’s Tonya J. Powers has details:

Apple wants the government to withdraw its court order requiring the company to unlock San Bernardino terrorist Syed Farook’s iPhone and instead wants Congress to form a commission that would discuss the implications for privacy and national security.

The tech giant said in a statement on its website this week it would gladly welcome that.

Nationwide protests were held yesterday outside Apple stores, railing against the FBI’s demand that the iPhone be unlocked.

(Man) “Because as soon as you have a back door they can use once, that can be stolen by malicious actors and used all over the place again and again. It puts everyone at risk.”

Apple has to comply with the court’s decision by Friday.
