17-Year-Old Charged After Shooting His Own Brother Over Blue Shorts

An Everett, Washington, teen will spend the next 17 years in prison after shooting a brother and sister because of the color of the brother’s shorts.

FOX’s John Saucier reports:

Blue is the color of a rival gang and when Sylius St Amie, who was 17 at the time, spotted another 17-year-old boy wearing blue shorts, he thought incorrectly that the other kid was a member of the competing gang.

So he pulled his gun and started firing. He admitted after his arrest that he shot the brother three times. And his 14-year-old sister, who rushed to his aide, once.

Tried and convicted as an adult, St. Amie will be sentenced to prison where his new color will be orange.

Fortunately his victims both recovered and are back in school.
