Mammoth Bones Discovered at Oregon State University

FOX’s Dave Anthony reports:

(Davis) “There’s a whole world of the past that exists under the ground.”

And construction crews found that out at Oregon State University, going back to the Ice Age while renovating the football stadium discovering ancient mammoth bones:

(Davis) “These kinds of animals went instinct in North America about ten thousand years ago or a little bit earlier.”

And these mammoth bones could actually be tens of thousands years older than that. OSU Anthropology Professor Loren Davis says they’ll use radio carbon dating to pinpoint it.

Bison and maybe camel remains were also found. It’s unclear how they died, but:

(Davis) “They weren’t hunted by people, that’s clear.”

Davis says the bones will be displayed and used for teaching.
