Talks to End Syria’s Civil War Are in Place

Talks aimed at ending Syria’s civil war are expected to start on Friday.

FOX’s Jessica Golloher has the details:

Discussions on how to end the violence in Syria stalled two years ago.

According to the office of the United Nations special envoy for Syria, invitations to the discussions, meant to start on Friday, have been sent out.

No specifics have been given except that Syria’s government, its opposition, members of civil society and womens groups have been invited.

A spokeswoman for Staffan de Mistura, the special envoy to Syria, saying the numbers and identities of the invitees will not be made public until de Mistura’s office receives feedback from the invited parties.

The nearly five year civil war has killed more than 250,000 people.
