December Retail Sales Decline

Lower gasoline prices affect retail sales.

FOX’s Steve Taylor reports from Washington:

Mixed results for the month of most holiday spending: the latest Commerce Department numbers show December retail sales rising at restaurants, online retailers, furnishers, sporting goods and building supply stores…

But sales were lower at clothing, electronics outlet, and general merchandise stores. Overall, December retail sales declined 0.1% to just over $448-billion, but the decline was largely because lower gasoline prices drove down sales totals.
