Detroit Teachers Continue to Protest
Dozens of schools in Detroit are closed for another day following organized teacher sick-outs.
FOX’s Jeff Monosso reports:
Detroit teachers called in sick in an organized protest over what they describe as poor working conditions like mold, rodents, and over-sized classrooms. Forcing over 60 Detroit schools to close yesterday, another 24 today, affecting tens of thousands of students.
DPS spokeswoman Chrystal Wilson says they’re meeting with teachers again today:
(Wilson) “To address their concerns and to hopefully end this.”
Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan, who’s asked teachers to return to work, is also touring troubled schools, vowing to make sure they get compliant to get kids back to class.
