Armed Militia Continues To Occupy Oregon Wildlife Refuge

Armed protesters remain inside the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Oregon.

FOX’s Tonya J. Powers has the story:

The armed militia took over the refuge on Saturday after a rally over the prison sentences of two local ranchers – Dwight and Steven Hammond.

The Hammonds have already served time for arson, but were given additional sentences by a judge who said their original prison terms were too short.

Ammon Bundy called the extra prison terms an attempt by the government to bully the ranchers.

(Bundy) “There have been very vindictive behaviors because they refused. There have been intimidations and the list goes on.”

Ammon and his brother Ryan are the sons of Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy, who was involved in a 2014 standoff with the government over grazing rights. They are among the group which has taken over the refuge.
