Ex-Harlem Globetrotters Legend Meadowlark Lemon Dies
A basketball legend has died.
FOX’s Dave Anthony reports:
On the basketball court Meadowlark Lemon was a showman… Fronting the Harlem Globetrotters for 25 years, revered around the world for making people laugh and making crazy long hook shots and no look behind the back passes and other sight gags like a water bucket full of confetti, that got him into the clown and basketball halls of fame…
(Lemon) “Man, I’ve had a good run… I’ve had a great run…”
Lemon at the 2003 Basketball Hall of Fame induction said he knew at 11 what he wanted to do in life…
(Lemon) “I made my own hoop out of a coat hanger and onion sack and I nailed it up across the street on the tree. For my basketball, I had a Carnation milk can.”
Meadowlark Lemon was 83 when he died in Arizona Sunday.
