E. Coli Outbreak at a Popular Food Chain in the Pacific Northwest

An E. coli outbreak in the Pacific Northwest has linked back to a popular fast food chain.

Fox News’ Jessica Rosenthal reports officials in Washington and Oregon are anticipating an increase in reported cases:

Several people got sick eating at Chipotle in the Pacific Northwest…

(Kenneweg) “Chipotle made the corporate decision to voluntarily close their restaurants. All restaurants in Washington and in the Portland metro area.”

Washington State Department of Health spokeswoman Danielle Kenneweg says they’re waiting on testing results.

Chipotle says in a statement it made the call even though most restaurants have shown no problems…

(Modi) “How were they contaminated, was it an employee, was it from outside, was it a previously contaminated surface that then just sort of spread it around?”

Jonathan Modi with the Oregon Public Health Department says they’re looking at everything from meats to produce.
