John Fogerty Releases New Autobiography ‘Fortunate Son’

John Fogerty, the man who wrote three minute masterpieces that we all know the words to (Green River, Bad Moon Rising, Born on Bayou, Who Will Stop the Rain, Fortunate Son, Centerfield) has written his autobiography.

Fogerty spoke exclusively to FOX News Radio and Bill Vitka has the story:

John Fogerty is one of the most successful songwriters alive, but he didn’t think he was much of a songwriter till he had an epiphany. One that begins with two words he wrote down in a notebook…

(Fogerty) “Low and behold I start to sort of churn on these chords and I’m getting a sense about the Mississippi… And here I’m writing this song, and I don’t know what to do so I go to my notebook and there on the top of the first page it says ‘Proud Mary’ and I go wow this song’s about a boat… that’s the name of the boat!”

(Fogerty) “Big wheel keep on turning, Proud Mary keep on burning…”

‘Proud Mary’ gave Fogerty faith in himself and that gave his band, Creedence Clearwater Revival, a series of hit singles that for a stretch, rivaled The Beatles.

Fogerty has written his life story, it is called ‘Fortunate Son.’
