Dodgers’ Chase Utley’s Hearing Postponed Until Monday
If Chase Utley is not on the field for the Dodgers in the N.L.D.S., it won’t be because the league told him he can’t play.
FOX News Radio’s Chris Hoenig reports:
Chase Utley’s suspension appeal hearing has been pushed back until Monday, meaning that the Dodgers infielder will be eligible to play for the rest of the N.L. Divisional Series against the Mets.
MLB Chief Baseball Officer Joe Torre told FOX Sports 1 that the timing of Utley’s slide on Mets shortstop Ruben Tejada was the reason for his two-game suspension…
(Torre) “It appeared to me that he hit Tejada and the ground about the same time… it was more targeting the player as opposed to the base.”
The hearing comes the day after game two of the N.L.C.S., so Utley will be available for the first two games of the next round, if the Dodgers get that far.
