Obama Administration Ends Part Of ISIS-Fighting Strategy In Syria
A key part of the Obama’s administration’s ISIS-fighting strategy in Syria is being scrapped.
FOX News Radio’s Rachel Sutherland reports from Washington:
Defense Secretary Ash Carter says officials tried to find ways to save the failing train and equip mission.
(Carter) “I wasn’t satisfied with the early efforts in that regard.”
Now, after training only a fraction of the fighters they wanted to prepare to battle ISIS and with many of those ambushed or captured, the Pentagon is ending the mission.
Instead, the military will provide equipment packages and weapons to vetted leaders and their units so they can make a concerted push into ISIS-controlled territory. The Pentagon will monitor their progress and provide them air support.
