The government says a computer theft of fingerprint records is a lot bigger than reported.
Fox News Radio’s Steve Taylor reports from Washington:
Fingerprints of people who work for the government or federal contractors, people who used to have jobs like that or who applied for those jobs… millions of those workers had their fingerprint records stolen from federal computers last spring.
The Office of Personnel Management had said that just over a million sets of prints were hacked. Now it’s five and a half million. The agency says it found some archives it hadn’t analyzed before. OPM says thieves’ ability to misuse the stolen prints is limited now, but technology is evolving.
