New Human Species Discovered
It’s being hailed as the most significant discovery of the last 50 years – archaeologists in South Africa have discovered an entirely new species of the human family.
FOX News Radio’s Paul Tilsley was at the announcement close to Johannesburg:
A staggering 1,500 fossilized bone fragments from whole families of this new early human, Homo naledi, have been found in one of the world’s most significant archaeological sites north of Johannesburg, dubbed the Cradle of Humankind. In all, the bones make up 15 individuals, ranging from babies to old people. Professor Lee Berger, leading the Johannesburg Wits University team of what he calls underground astronauts, squeezed through tunnels only ten inches thick 100 yards underground to make the discovery.
