Kyle Larson To Channel “Days Of Thunder”?
Just two races to go before NASCAR’s post-season gets underway as teams attempt to tame the track that’s “too tough to tame” in the Southern 500.
FOX News Radio’s Rich Denison reports:
FOX in the Fast Lane.
Drivers head to South Carolina for a date with the “Lady in Black” as NASCAR brings back the Southern 500 to Darlington Raceway for the first time since 2003.
Track officials are marking the occasion with a 70’s theme throwback weekend, as ticket prices, food at the concession stands, even the tires will have fans remembering when leaded gas used to fuel race cars.
30 teams in Sunday night’s race will be celebrating the moment with throwback paint jobs… Including Kyle Larson, who’ll be driving the No. 42 Mello Yello Chevy… And needs a win to secure a place in the Chase.
(Larson) “Definitely the toughest track we go to, I think. It’s… both ends are so different. One and two is a lot faster corner… and, the exit slows up a lot.”
But, he’ll have to channel his inner Cole Trickle from “Days of Thunder” if he has any hope of winning Darlington.
