Tony Stewart Returns To The Glen
It’s off to the road course at Watkins Glen this Sunday for the Cheez It 355 at the Glen… Fans reflect on Tony Stewart’s career a year after a tragic accident… Jeff Gordon looking for some luck at the Glen… Kyle Busch takes a break and American Idol David Cook to sing at the Glen.
FOX News Radio’s Marghiee Teshineh reports in “FOX in the Fast Lane”:
NASCAR goes to Watkins Glen this weekend, a road course where Tony Stewart has won a record five times. But, Stewart missed last year’s race after he struck and killed driver Kevin Ward Jr. during a sprint car race last August.
I spoke to fans about Stewart’s struggles since the accident…
(Jonathan Morrissey, NASCAR Fan) “I’m sure it weighs heavy on his mind but it’s time for people to move on they’ve made the sport a lot safe since then.”
And do they think Tony could win again?
(Justin Wise, NASCAR Fan) “I think he still has a very good chance, I mean he has all the skills, he’s one heck of a driver. He just has to put it all together.”
Stewart is currently in 25th place and looking for his first win of the season.
Jeff Gordon is in 10th place and needs a win to secure a place in the Chase… so…
(Gordon) “Right now every race is so critical for us.”
Kyle Busch still recovering from his injuries, will sit out the Xfinity race at Watkins Glen and only take part in the Cup race.
And, “American Idol” winner David Cook will perform the National Anthem this weekend at Watkins Glen.
