Tax Data Exposed: IRS Suffers Breach
You may be hearing from the IRS about stolen tax data… yours.
FOX News Radio’s Steve Taylor reports from Washington:
Internal Revenue says criminals breached computer security systems to get information on about 100,000 tax accounts. The data includes Social Security numbers, dates of birth and street addresses.
IRS says the thieves got access information from sources outside the agency to enter its system through an online service called “Get Transcript”, which lets taxpayers see their returns and other filings from past years.
If your data was part of the breach, IRS says it will provide credit monitoring service.
