Driverless Car Crashes Revealed

Driverless cars may need drivers after all? Some of the vehicles, which are being tested in California, have been involved in accidents.

FOX News Radio’s Jessica Rosenthal has more:

The DMV confirms there have been four accidents involving driverless cars since September, but the actual collision reports remain confidential.

An official with Google says the fault of all three of their accidents was with the other drivers and called them minor fender benders. A spokeswoman with Delphi says while in manual mode their automated car was stopped when it was hit by another car.

Jessica Gonzlaes with the DMV says right now seven manufacturers have permits and 48 automated vehicles are approved for road use.

(Gonzeles) “They have to show they have enough money for insurance purposes. The test drivers themselves have to go through a rigorous program to make sure they’re good drivers.”

There are currently 269 autonomous drivers with test permits.
