Strong Reactions To President Obama’s State Of the Union Address [VIDEO]
Tuesday’s night State of the Union getting a lot of bold responses from both sides of the aisle.
FOX News Radio’s Jared Halpern and Jon Decker recap what was said by the President during the speech and Congressmen after the fact.
I’m Jared Halpern at the Capitol….
(President Obama): “The shadow of crisis has passed and the State of the Union is strong.”
President Obama’s penultimate State of the Union Address was his first to a fully Republican-controlled Congress. Despite that, the President laying out an ambitious liberal economic agenda.
(President Obama): “As Americans, we don’t mind paying our fair share of taxes as long as everybody else does too.”
A budget plan will include closing tax benefits for the wealthiest Americans and free community college. Most on the Republican side of the aisle — sitting on their hands — as the President described those proposals.
In fact, Republicans like Texas Senator Ted Cruz told FOX News Radio, that he was disappointed with the substance and tenor of the President’s speech…
(Cruz): ”He doubled down on more and more taxes, more and more spending, more and more debt.”
As for Democrats, House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer of Maryland said he saw some areas for compromise with Republicans…
(Hoyer): “Probably a majority in the House and the Senate who are for a trade bill.”
The President will get a chance to hear the public’s reaction to the speech today , as he travels to Idaho and Kansas.
