President Obama Expected To Detail Controversial Tax Plan

    President Obama is expected to unveil a controversial tax proposal in his State of the Union Address.

    FOX News Radio’s Rachel Sutherland reports from Washington.

    President Obama is expected to call for $320 billion in tax increases on the very rich over ten years. White House Adviser Dan Pfeiffer says the money would be used for tax breaks for the middle class.

    (Pfeiffer) ”We should ask the wealthy to pay a little more, and invest more in the middle class, give the middle class a raise.” 

    But, Republican Senator Marco Rubio says…

    (Rubio) “Raising taxes on people that are successful is not going to make people that are struggling more successful.” 

    Both men appearing on CBS’ “Face the Nation.”

    The proposal is expected to be a non-starter in the Republican-controlled Congress.
