Rep. Michael Grimm To Resign After Pleading Guilty To Tax Evasion
He insisted he wouldn’t resign, but after a conversation with House Speaker John Boehner, a New York congressman changes his mind.

Pleading guilty to felony tax evasion charges last week — New York Republican Congressman Michael Grimm expected to announce his resignation. Re-elected overwhelming in November, he said he wouldn’t resign after admitting to all the illegal conduct in a 20 count indictment.
House Speaker John Boehner who’s taken a hard line against ethics violations, spoke with Grimm Monday.
Grimm’s on camera threat to break a local TV reporter in two and push him off the Capitol balcony after the State of the Union address gained him national attention.
Grimm’s sentencing isn’t til June. His lawyers expected to ask for probation.

Despite winning re-election last month, New York Republican Micahel Grimm is giving up his seat, after pleading guilty last week to tax evasion. He could get more than two years in prison when sentenced next year. Grimm initially said he would remain in office.
Meantime, the number three Republican in the House… Whip Steve Scalise… is answering questions about a speaking gig he did more than a decade ago in Louisiana… a state representative at the time… Scalise gave remarks at a gathering of White Supremacists. A spokesperson says Scalise was unaware of the group’s ideology, and spoke only about fiscal issues.
