2014 Midterm Elections: Republicans Take Control Of The Senate [VIDEO]
Republicans have taken at least seven seats to win control of the U.S. Senate in Tuesday’s midterm elections.
The Senate’s top Republican Mitch McConnell fends off a re-election scare, coasting to an early victory.
FOX News Radio’s Jared Halpern has more from Louisville, Kentucky:
The election night party ended early in this Louisville hotel ballroom… Kentucky Republican Mitch McConnell coasting to a sixth term.
(McConnell) “I work hard to bring your concerns to Washington and I will not let up.”
McConnell, in his victory speech, previewing his vision of a Republican-led Senate.
(McConnell) “We do have an obligation to work together on the issues where we can agree. I think we have a duty to do that.”
McConnell saying a two party system doesn’t need to be perpetual conflict, adding, he hopes President Obama lets him show that to be true.

Alaska may give the GOP another Senate win, but the Republican won’t declare victory and the Democrat won’t concede the race.
FOX News Radio’s Jessica Rosenthal is in Anchorage with the latest election results:
With most precincts reporting Republican Senate candidate Dan Sullivan was ahead of the incumbent, Democratic Senator Mark Begich by four percentage points, but Sullivan would not declare victory…
(Sullivan) “This is a speech that’s focused on what we think is going to happen but most importantly what you have done for us.”
Begich’s campaign said they’d like to wait on counts from some outstanding villages as well as absentee and questioned ballots.
Elections officials said at midnight that they had 22,000 early and absentee votes to count as well as nearly 14,000 such votes that they hadn’t yet received.

A big win for Republicans in the Iowa Senate race.
FOX News Radio’s Jeff Monosso reports from West Des Moines, Iowa:
The music played and the celebration continued for hours at Joni Ernst’s headquarters her in West Des Moines, Iowa after Ernst flipped a Democratic Senate seat red for the first time in 30 years and becomes the first woman to serve as Iowa’s U.S. Senator…
(Ernst) “And we are going to make ’em squeal!”
She wasn’t seen early on as a major political threat to Democrat Bruce Braley, but after tens of millions of dollars and a brand new political ground game, a political upset for Democrats here in Iowa where state polls also show the direction of this country is one of the biggest drivers to the polls for voters here.

Colorado elects a new Republican Senator.
Fox News Radio’s Rich Johnson reports from Denver:
To his fellow Colorado Republicans who always said ‘Wait until the next election’…
(Gardner) “Well I’ve got news for you — that next election — it finally happened.”
Senator-elect Cory Gardner declaring victory in his bid to unseat incumbent Democratic Senator Mark Udall who had these works of concession…
(Udall) “As long as I’ve had the privilege to serve the people of Colorado, I’ve always felt that I’ve come out ahead and tonight is no exception.”
Gardner won big and won early. No body here expected this race, which the polls called a dead heat, to be called so quickly.

Unlike many other races around the country, the Senate race in Louisiana did not end on Tuesday evening.
FOX News Radio’s Eben Brown reports from New Orleans:
Louisiana’s Senate race will continue on… A race in which so far, Democrat incumbent Mary Landrieu hasn’t been leading in election day polling. But she is confident.
(Landrieu) “Now we have the race that we have wanted.”
She claims Republican Bill Cassidy might think she and President Obama are too alike, but she claims Cassidy has no real local record, and too much outside money.
(Landrieu) “And Bill Cassidy… you cannot run, and you cannot hide anymore. This race is starting tonight!”
That runoff will be on December 6th.
