CDC Lab Safety Concerns Grow

Some incidents at Federal labs involving deadly diseases are causing the CDC to change the way they handle them.

FOX News Radio’s Eben Brown reports:

There have been three recent instances of Federal labs not taking precautions to control samples of deadly diseases– like anthrax, smallpox and a dangerous strain of the flu. And for the CDC Director, Tom Frieden, that’s three too many:

Dr. Frieden: “What the events of the past couple of months have told me, is that there’s a problem– and it’s a symptom of a broader problem of laboratory safety.”

Frieden is imposing a moratorium on transporting of these deadly diseases until labs monitored by the CDC and their staffs are retrained and recertified.
